Unikal Keyring · Ethan Vaughn

On device

Your ring layout, key blanks, copy/replacement marks, pickup times and status flags are written to your phone's own app storage.

Not collected

No sign-up, no email, no phone number, no location, no contacts, no advertising identifier.

Not shared

We operate no server for your keyring data, so there is nothing on our side to sell, share or hand to a partner.

Unikal Keyring helps people who are always travelling and carrying too many keys: laying out the ring, identifying each blank, marking whether a key is a copy or a cylinder replacement, noting the window between trains, and following the "ready for pickup" status of each key. All of that is bookkeeping that happens on your own handset.

Effective 20 August 2026 · Applies to the Unikal Keyring mobile app.

01

What the app keepsData you enter, stored locally

Everything in Unikal Keyring is content you type or tap in yourself. That typically includes:

  • Key entries: nickname, position on the ring, blank/profile label you write in, and any notes.
  • Job flags: whether the key is a duplicate copy or a cylinder replacement, and how many were ordered.
  • Timing: the pickup window you set between trains or connections, and reminder times.
  • Status: "ordered", "being cut", "ready for pickup", "collected" and the date you flipped each one.
  • Optional free-text shop or counter names you add for your own recall.

This record is held in the app's private storage area on your device. It is not uploaded to us.

02

Nothing at allWhat we do not collect

We do not collect, receive or process: your name, email address, phone number, postal address, location or GPS, contacts, calendar, browsing history, advertising ID, device fingerprint, or a behavioural profile of how you use the app.

There is no account system. You never create a login, so there is no user record for us to hold.

03

No back endServers and network use

Unikal Keyring does not run a sync service and does not maintain a database of your keyrings. In normal use the app functions entirely offline. If a future version ever needs a network call, it will be for an obvious, user-initiated action and this policy will be updated before that version ships.

There is no "export to our cloud" feature, and none is planned.
04

AttachmentsPhotos you choose to add

If the app lets you attach a photo to a key entry — for example a shot of a bow or a shop docket — the picture is copied into the app's local storage on your device. It is not transmitted anywhere. The system photo picker only hands the app the single item you select; the app does not browse your library.

A practical note rather than a privacy one: avoid photographing the cut edge (the bitting) of a key, since a clear image of it can be enough to reproduce that key.

05

RemindersLocal notifications

Pickup-window and "ready for collection" reminders are scheduled by your phone's own notification system from data already on the device. No reminder content is sent through a push server operated by us. You can switch notifications off at any time in your device settings, and the rest of the app keeps working.

06

PermissionsWhat the app asks for, and why

  • Notifications — only to fire your own pickup reminders locally. Optional.
  • Photo library (single item) — only when you tap to attach an image. Optional.

The app does not request location, microphone, camera roll-wide access, contacts, or background tracking.

07

Third partiesApp stores and device backups

We do not embed advertising or analytics SDKs. Two things nonetheless sit outside our control:

  • The app store you downloaded from (Apple or Google) handles the download, any purchase, and gives the publisher aggregate, non-identifying install and crash statistics under its own privacy policy. We never see who you are from those figures.
  • Your device backup — if you have iCloud Backup or Google's Android backup switched on, your phone may include the app's local data in that encrypted backup. That is your device's setting, governed by Apple's or Google's terms, and you can exclude the app there.
08

RetentionHow long anything is kept

Your entries stay on the device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes the app's local storage; a device backup you made earlier may still contain a copy until that backup is cycled out or removed by you.

09

Your controlAccess, correction and erasure

Because the data lives with you, you exercise these rights directly: open any key entry to read or edit it, delete individual keys or a whole ring inside the app, or delete the app to remove everything at once. We hold no copy, so we cannot retrieve, restore or delete anything on your behalf.

If you write to support, we only ever have what you choose to put in your own message.

10

ChildrenNot directed to under-13s

Unikal Keyring is a general-purpose organiser and is not aimed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

11

RevisionsChanges to this policy

If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects your data, this page is updated and the effective date at the top is changed. Material changes will also be noted in the app store release notes. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
